Deans 6n2 TDI

Featured Replies

I've bought a polo 6n2 after lurking in the shadows for a couple of years with dare I say it a Vauxhall Astra.

So to get on with the car I have it's a 1.4 tdi (awesome on fuel!!). At the moment it's standard and it's gonna be a few years before I get it to a standard of where I want it.

The gearbox has decided to give up so I will try and do a few pics of stripping that down and replacing the bearings that have gone.

Now a picture of the car....

Well took gearbox apart and replaced input shaft and diff bearings all other bearings seem ok so now I'm going to put it back together again and be replacing my clutch kit and the n/s driveshaft inner cv joint because I found that to also be noisy so all in all I've spent 200 quid on sorting out my gearbox

Fair play for taking the bid off, shame that these have gearbox issues as the engines are solid.

Well bearings on and checked, all okay so now have rebuilt the gearbox. All gears select ok and box is now ready to go back in the car along with new clutch kit. Should be back on the road this weekend

Gearbox back in car and all seems to be okay and I've found my pioneer speakers to go in front doors. Dead chuffed with that so they will be getting fitted very soon I hope.cceeb6b12b4233d1f29e060e563b0236.jpg76e2dcb3aff334743533f5ea931f0c87.jpg

So apart from doing the gearbox and potentially doing the speakers next week. I went and picked up some new/old wheels (you get the idea) so here they are in their glory 2b175d57b5d99193b7d069e5a3edc4c9.jpg. Only cost me £20 thanks to Mike Rigby who used to be on here with a mk3 polo, so next on the list is a quick refurb of the wheels and on they go

UPDATE, so I bought a few new things for the Polo. Gearknob and gaitor, and a new catalytic converter due to the old one blowing from the flexi. Also a new passenger front indicator has been fitted, starting to feel and look better. More pics to come
