1986 Mk 2 Breadvan FOR SALE Low mileage

Featured Replies

Hi

We're finally selling our late father’s Mk 2 Polo C, and thought this would be the place where it would be appreciated by Breadvan enthusiasts.

The car is a 1986 C reg. 1043cc, 3-door, petrol, manual transmission and is in great condition for its age.  It has been kept in a garage  (and still is) and is in its original state throughout.  The interior/trim etc. is in excellent condition, and the exterior is generally good, but with some areas of surface rust to the bodywork - mainly the rear wheel arch.

The car has had three owners, including my dad, who used it mainly for local travel. It hasn’t been driven for several years and was last started around 18 months ago. (When the pictures were taken.) It always started well when the battery still had some power, but the battery is now completely discharged (it won’t take a trickle charge) and needs replacing.

It has its original documentation (VAG Service wallet/manual etc.) including the service history and the last MOT certificate, which expired in 2010 when my dad stopped driving.  (The mileage on the certificate is listed as 20,247 miles.)

NB: The clock mileage is 20,784 but within the documentation there is formal notification and a corresponding receipt showing that the speedometer cable was replaced at 49,694 miles, so obviously the clock was reset at that point. Still a really low combined mileage for its age though, at just over 70,000.

I’ve tried to give as much information as I can and have attached some relevant pictures.  If there’s any more information or clarification required, then just let me know.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for an early Mk 2 in original condition. My dad was really fond of the car and it would be nice to see it go to someone else who appreciates it, rather than gathering dust in a garage.

We are looking at around £600 as a guide price, but are open to reasonable offers. The car is located in the West Midlands. (SORN is in place.)

Good points:  Low mileage. Good original condition. Service history. Garaged.

Bad points:    Rust patches in some areas. No MOT.  Hasn’t been started for about 18 months.
