I recently bought a mk2 breadvan and I want it to be a bit lower. The only problem is I need to use it to drive back to uni in September and it will be fully loaded up inside and also have 2 heavy (roughly 15-20kg each) mountain bikes either on the roof or on a tow bar mounted bike rack. I'm leaving the steelies on so they're nice and skinny to try and minimise rub.

 

I've found someone selling 80mm shocks and springs but would that be too low when it's fully loaded? Would it be better to just go for 60mm?

 

My mates are trying to convince me to get coilies but I'm pretty skint so unless I can find some pretty cheap that isn't really an option

60/40 is common and still keeps it useable

I would say 60mm is plenty, I'm on a 60/50 kit and it has even caught the exhaust lightly time to time when fully loaded. Although my exhaust was sitting quite low

Also think it's good middle ground for looks and practicality

Depending on the kit some seem to sit lower than others. The 60/40 kit from H&R seems to sit very low from the pictures I've seen. Whereas the cheap TA kits don't seem to drop it that much.

Also bare in mind with any drop over 40mm at the front you really should invest in a set of ARB castor correction blocks. So whatever you buy budget an extra £60 for buying them too.

My AP kit definitley sits lower than the TA technix kit did. And because that was TA it rode like shit too
