2004 9N gearbox question

So i'm on my second salvage gearbox in 2 years.... this one is pretty good, but going into first is sometimes notchy, and I have to lift the clutch a little to allow it into gear.... reverse is similar.

Is there any adjustment on the gear selector set up? Or have I bought another lemon? 90% of the time it goes into gear fine, but 1st and reverse are the notchy ones.

Any ideas/suggestions welcome. Oh and its got a brand new clutch so won't be that :)
