Hi Guys,

First post here (isn't everyones first post a problem one!)

I've recently saved a 1.4 16v 6N2 from my brother in law. He was determined to scrap the POS.
I felt it was in far too good condition to leave it for crushing.

X reg, 78k miles

After a quick inspection, it appears the rear pads / discs had never been changed and was pretty much piston / disc contact!

I've now changed all this, including both rear brake pipes, but the brakes are still awful.

It appears the vacuum hose on the servo is split and the one-way valve is missing the small green cap.

Does anyone know the part numbers for both the vacuum hose and the cap please?
I've looked online and there are several variations, none of which seem quite the same as what's currently fitted and MOT is due weds.

As far as I'm aware, mine's an AKK engine, but my hose looks like no.2 in the 2nd picture.
Hopefully that and the cap will solve this problem, then I can work on finding more.

If you go to TPS/VW they will be able to select the correct one from your reg number

Just a little update.

Ended up making a hose out of silicone for about 1/5th the price VW wanted for a new one.
Brakes still felt bad though.

Went in for MOT today and failed (sort of expected)

Turns out the master cylinder is also shot.

A few hours down and we are done!

Mot retest tomorrow :)

Just one rather worrying little point there.

Vacuum hose is designed to withstand pressure from the OUTSIDE in order that it doesn't collapse - Are you sure that your silicone hose is designed for vacuum use? - If it isn't, there's a fair chance that it will collapse when warm, resulting in no servo action to the brakes.

Yup, we're all good.
I had a 1m length of silicone vacuum hose from autosiliconehoses.com left over from a previous build.
