Here we go people just a few questions so stick with me. 

 

Im well aware of the G60 update you can do to the front brakes of the polo gti 6n2 most do it for the looks as it fills the wheels better than standard brakes.

 

I picked up my gti a few weeks back. And I've got plans to make it something special, I've had a fair few vag cars in the past, extending to an audi s2, s3, s4 leon cupra 180 audi a6, golf gti tdi,  polo mk 2 so I've been around them a while.

 

Now my beady little eye has fallen upon the brakes as an upgrade point, I'm going to do the generic coilovers change but my aim is to keep it looking wolf in sheep's clothing until you look at it hard enough to notice the changes. 

 

My question is.

Is the stud pattern on the polo gti 6n2 the same as a mk2 golf 4 stud. So would brake discs from a mk2 golf fit a polo gti 6n2?

The reason for the question is that having owned an s2 in the past I know that the discs are 270ish diameter and the G60 brake discs are 280, the s2 calipers are also 2 pot calipers. I belive that the s2 calipers will bolt to g60 carriers, in which case if I purchased g60 caliper carriers and disks along with s2 calipers they should theoretically slot together nicely, this mod has been done on a mk2 golf hence the original question. I would need to upgrade the master cylinder aswell but that's not an issue. 

 

The calipers are also heavy but they do offer a huge increase in contact area compared to the G60 pads so swings and roundabouts really but they would look pretty good in red sat under the wheels, 

 

Speaking of wheels, the standard s2 wheels are 16s and the mk2 gold that upgraded to s2 calipers managed to squeeze theM under 15s so clearance doesn't seem to be an issue.

 

Thoughts ladies and gentlemen would be much appretiated

Here's a pic of s2 pads and g60 pads the top is the s2 item so you can see there is a pretty significant increase there.

The Golf Mk2 uses the same 4x100 bolt pitch as the Polo

 

15" wheels might cause clearance problems on a bready rear

Sweet so in principal the disks and calipers shold bolt up nicely g60 disks g60 carriers and s2 calipers.

 

The standard wheels on a 6n2 gti are 15s anyway so clearance won't be an issue I don't think. It might be a bit tight between the inside wheel face and the calipers I've known people who run small gaps between caliper and wheel to get stones stuck between them and they get grooves worn into them

i think some wheels clear not all of them..i looked at doing this on my golf g60 a while back

 

you will also get a longer travel on the pedal due to the bigger piston area 

Yeah I was going to get around the pedal travel by upping the size of the master cylinder from the standard 22mm to 25mm again sourced from an s2 or other s4 of the same age. Im hoping there is enough clearance on the wheels I like the standard wheels of the gti but if push came to shove do the bbs wheels from a golf mk3 vr6 or gti fit?

mk3 gti /vr are 5 stud 

 

i think stuff that fitted the golf/ corrado g60 should clear so g60 steels or bbs rm etc .....not 110% sure as i never did it but thats what others said would work
