Hello,

 

Just noticed my car has a new shock absorver and spring on the left side wich should have around 25.000kms and a old on the right side with 135.000kms. My car is lhd

I believe it was replaced when I was an accident, insurance took care of the situation so I'm not sure.... but... does this affect the car handling? What symptoms could this cause that I should be aware of?

With car on level surface does it look level or is one side higher?

 

Push down on the corner with new(er) shock absorber then let go. Watch how car rebounds.

 

Do the same on older shock absorber corner. If that corner keeps bouncing it will need replacing.

 

If, while driving on rough surface you get loud bangs, bumpy ride,  probably due for renewal... mine lasted 170,000 km.

the new shock side looks  bit higher but not sure. also my steering is stiff and feels like it wants to return to the center more  than it should. if I relase the steering wheel, it returns to the center instantly, like in less than one second..

Steering is more complicated than shocks.

Which exact car model?

Does it drive in a straight line on a flat road?

 

Could be any of the rubber bits in the steering or control arms ...

It's an Ibiza 6J equivalent to the Polo 6R

 

I went to a self service garage and with the wheels off the ground and turning the steering I can hear this noises coming from the rack

No idea  - my 30+ year old Polo does not have power steering. But I would expect the steering wheel to return to centre on any car.
