Hello all,

I have 195-50-15 on my 6n2 gti and it's touching my front fender (the rear side of the front fenders).

I have attached some photos.

Is there anything I can do? I really want to keep this tires so I'm looking for a body work solution.

I don't think there is much you can do. Different tyres or raise your suspension. I'm assuming its lowered?

You are right, It's lowered (35 mm)

stretching the wing won't help?

Can I make some room for the tire?

Its hard to know, I had to screw a couple of bits of my arch lining to pull it in/out of the way. And heat some other parts to changen their shape a bit. 

 

I don't know much about rolling or flaring your arches, like what happens your arch lining when you do this.

 

From what I've read and experienced myself, a tyre change might be best. I had to try a few different brands of the same size tyre and found 1 that was neater that worked. Maybe someone with more experience might pitch in and give you some other advice but that's all I got I'm afraid.

I think the main issue here is the tyre size. As standard those alloys have 195/45/15 tyres on them, with a 195/50 you have effectively a bigger overall wheel diameter, add that to the fact your car is lowered then the gap between the tyre and arch will be greatly reduced.

I say you have 2 options 

 

A: Change the tyres for a smaller size, 195/45/15 would be ideal

B: Raise the car back up to standard height.

The main issue is that there are no "sticky" tires at 195/45/15. So I had to raise to 195/50/15.
That's why I do not want to switch back to 195/45/15.

I can raise the car a bit, about 10 mm. I am not sure how much it will help.
What do you think?

I don't know if you can get them where you are but Toyo do a T1-R tyre in 195/45/15, probably one of the best road tyres out there.

I don't agree that T1-R is a good tyre at all...

I tried to search a little for a good 195/45/15 tyres and honestly couldn't find even one that is close to the AD-08.

that's truly irritating :(

The T1-R is the best tyre I can find in that size and having driven on them in the past I think they are brilliant. But it is personal preference at the end of the day.
