Hope the Club Polo plate holders look good :)

So I thought as I hadn't driven her since New Year's Day I had better start her up.  So got in from work tonight and turned the key.  Heard fuel injection kick in and she turned over and then died.  Battery sounds flat.  I know it's been two weeks and she is 20 years old but didnt expect total flat battery.  Do you think alarm and dash displays staying on for that time have drained the battery too low?  I really didn't think the LED clock and mileage would stay displayed but it does, really couldn't remember that with my last 6n?

i had this on my 6n2 , checked the whole thing as the battery was new and discharging somewhere , turned out the battery was a dud , new battery ( ended up with new alternator too but this was after the battery issue ) and sorted , still goes flat after about a month of no driving ... good to go out a drive just to keep her ticking over or get a trickle charger if you are going to be garaging it for a while :)

2 weeks and cold weather will kill a battery, sounds like it wasn't totally dead if it turned the engine over. Just didn't have enough juice to properly kick it into life. I'd get it charged up and try and again.

Thanks for the advice!  Much appreciated.  If it stops sleeting today I am getting out there to sort.  In a weeks time she will be used as a daily so hopefully won't have this problem any longer.

This was my old 1.0 6N. I think it has been scrapped now as not been mot'd since 2011!  This got me through daily commutes into Birmingham and back in snow and everything!  Loved her!

Yes they were Volvo wheels, they were already on when I brought her from my sister.

Got to get new tyres on my polo this weekend and get new window regulators fitted then I am going to use her everyday soon.  Very excited!

So got new tyres on but window regs still need doing!  Also, got a bad leak from rear window and boot is like a swimming pool so once weather drys up I am going to seal back window.  Also going to fit led number plate bulbs this weekend.  Will be using her every day for work from Monday so we will test reliability lol!  Had new battery Wednesday too.

So my first week of using the old girl as a daily and I am enjoying the retroness at the moment!  Even find the fact she steams up so bad in the rain cute!  Fuel consumption may be an issue as I am used to brand new VEE dubs so going back to an old one is noticeable in terms of mpg!  

think I get between 25-30mpg in mine on average, they are definately not as economical as newer cars haha

Yeah, I had the same 1.6 8V in a Skoda. It wasn't  great on fuel, but I don't think it was quite that bad, but then I was doing long journeys rather than sitting in traffic. Make sure your spark plugs aren't oiled up as these do tend to leak a bit past the stem seals. 

I have really enjoyed driving her all this week.  Only thing is the fuel smell still inside the car!  She still has about half a tank of fuel so not done too bad at all!

So two weeks of driving her to work and love it being back in a retro dub.  Definitely need new brakes though, hand break needs adjusting and got to change a bulb. Need a speaker upgrade. Also need to sort out knocking but love her!

eventually I will have a full respray and think I want some new wheels but we will see!

Which wheels should I go for?

Also what should. Do re suspension?  How low and what shocks and springs?

I've always thought Ronal Turbos are perfect for a 6n. 

As for suspension what do you want from it? Lows or handling? Coilovers are the obvious way to go for lows, nice and cheap but the cheap ones don't improve much in terms of handling. Years ago I ran a 6n on a Spax 60mm spring and shock kit with adjustable damping. The handling improved dramatically over just being slammed on coilovers, it was a lot better to drive day to day too. 

Thanks so much for replying.  I love Ronal turbos too.  If I have some though they are going to have to be shinny ones!  I want it to just sit a little lower and improve handling at the same time so rather save and pay a little more to get handling right.
