Thought I would just start a quick thread to say hi and introduce myself and my car.

I am Jon and I was recently lucky enough to be given a Polo free! 

I own a T25 camper that I was prepping for its new paint. The bloke who is painting the van was visited by his landlord who told him he wanted more space on the industrial estate and some of the cars needed to me shifted. Anyway I was minding my own business and he walks past and casually asks if I wanted a Polo. When he mentioned the price I couldn't say yes fast enough.

Now it ain't perfect by a long shot. There had been an attempted theft that left the doors bent and the ignition wires all over the place. The weather had got in a d there was mold on most surfaces but I was not in the least bit deterred. 

The doors have been straightened so it is now watertight but the wires are still exposed so I am having to hotwire my own car!

It is a five door Open Air model with the 999cc Ali block engine. It will get all the love it deserves and I will update as it goes along if anyone is interested.

Anyway, that's me, glad to be here and loving the Polo with all it's quirks.

Why didn't they cut a hole in the fabric roof rather than bend a door?

Cheaper to replace/mend a door I suppose.

 

Make sure you get the V5 new owner slip, even if it is free and that it is SORN.
