Mystery wire?

im a novice in the middle of restoring a mk2 1989 coupe s and have just got it back from the painters. Currently putting it back together but while putting dash back in have found a loose wire its the red one hanging down in the picture ive attached. Its a while since I stripped the car and cant remember where its from. Can someone tell me were it goes

Ok can see the pic now, but that's an aftermarket wire, plain Red wire on VW is only used on main battery supply and that wire looks like it's connected to a Black wire ??

I have the original radio in the car but I think at some stage the previous owner had a different head unit in. Could this be the left over wires from some sort of bodged sound system?

Difficult to say, but the Black wire it's connected too looks like it has a Blue stripe ?? if so that's an ignition ON supply that could of been used for a radio install as the standard radio setup didn't have an ignition switched supply
