New Member with New Project.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone im Dave from sunny Blackpool... Very new member with a very new project,   Just picked up (today) a 1983 Polo Coupe... 62,000 miles. and apparently has been garage kept for the past 10 yrs..... .. took a massive gamble buying blind, as the car was over 2 hrs away to view... but picked this up for less than £500.... so far exterior seems very solid!  needs a new passenger door panel wise.....  hope to start stripping to bare shell this weekend... :D

Full restoration in mine... has a 1.0L  not sure what the popular swap would be., ideas please..

Im new to the classic polo, I did have a 6n2GTI a few yrs back.... so i will have plenty of questions and no doubt need help :D

Dave.

whats a running 1.0L engine/box, complete with accessories  worth?   with 64,000 origional miles.. ... probably not a whole lot ay lol

Not exactly a desirable engine and one that usually gets chucked in favour of something more powerful. I doubt it would be worth much more than £50-100 and to be honest probably better off just keeping it for spare or to use in future if you return the car to standard. Having a spare engine laying around is always good for robbing random bolts and parts from though.

True statement.. car will never return to standard  :)    I will need to reasearch what engine & box etc  is good to use further down the line..... currently stripping the car to see what surprises it brings.
