Polo 6n on classic insurance? Hello again. I'm looking at getting a e60 535d in a few months time when I get my 2 years no claims bonus. I've tried soon many insurance companies that does multi car policies and quotes are coming back 2.5k the cheapest. I really don't wanna get rid of the polo because I have a soft spot for it but is there any insurance companies that would insure it on classic policy? I won't be driving it that much max 3times a month as I will have my BMW then. Worse comes i might have to sell it :(  Thanks nimal

Your 6n is a V reg if I'm not mistaken? Which makes it 18 years old now, so should qualify for classic insurance as most have a minimum car age requirement of 15 years. 

You'll need to phone round them and get quotes though as most aren't on comparison sites. Lancaster Classic & Footman James are good ones to try.

Most policies ask that the classic car isn't your main car and that you value it over £1000 along with a few other things. They also don't count NCB and don't earn you NCB, but they are usually cheap enough that you don't need that anyway.

What was the outcome with this our of interest?

Every classic insurance ive rang refused to give me a quote due to the car not being old enough :(  looks like ill be selling/breaking it in a few months time. 

"There is no standard definition of the term 'classic car' for insurance purposes. HM Revenue & Customs rules state that you can define a car as classic if it is more than 15 years old and worth at least £15,000 - but individual insurance providers may use different criteria when deciding whether to confer heritage or classic status on your car."

 

That's from moneysupermarket site, so by age it falls into the description but certainly not the value :(

 

I don't get why they say it isn't old enough. My E46 M3 is insured on a classic policy and it is only 16 years old so a year younger than your car. 

If you want to try them it is insured through Performance Direct.

@kwijibo_coupe I'll give performance direct a ring on my day off. I really dont want to get rid of it and just keep it as a second spare car.

Maybe, insure through someone who specialises insurance like our sponsors and have it on limited mileage etc, which should bring the price right down.
