Coupe G40 arches mod

Hey guys just a quick question the has probably been asked a few times and I have searched high and low, but here is my question :-

I have a coupe and I have a set of G40 arches, side skirts and rub strips, 

I dont want the rub strips because I spent a few hours of painfull fingers getting the original ones off (never again will i take them off was a pain in the friggin a$$)

anywho the arches have the bit sticking out  to connect to the door rub strips. The way I thought about going around this problem is cutting off that bit, and cutting the end off that bit and plastic welding that to where the hole would be, I know this is a long winded way of wording this but if anyone takes the time to actually read this thank you for listening to my mindless rabbiting on about crap that is probably easier than I though xD
