ABS Light on, ECU query???

If anyone can help me here i´d be very grateful!!

The ABS light is on on my ´96 6N, 1.0.

It´s a Left hand drive and to get the ABS ECU off i had to remove the master cylinder!!

I´m at the stage of having removed the ECU from the abs block, and  cut the top off to check the solder joints on the circuit board for the Hydraulic pump. I´ve seen these can be a common problem leading to fault code 01276, which mine is displaying.  The solder joints appear fine, and have good continuity running through them. All other joints, to my eye, look ok aswell. I reconnected both the large terminal, and 2 pin to the pump, but left the ECU off the block.  Ignition on and my light went out!!  I hoped that something had been jogged back to life.

 I refitted the ECU to the block, (after sealing the cover back on)  ignition on, and the  light stayed on again!  Removed the terminals once more, ECU back off, reconnected terminals with the ECU again sitting to one side, and the light will go off again!! At one point i then noticed that the pump connector seemed to be the culprit, as i had the light off but when i wiggled this connector the light  came on. Thinking i was onto something i´ve tightened the female connectors up and also used a cable tie to hold the connector on more firmly. But once again today i´ve had the light off, refitted it to the block, ignition on and light stays on!!

I´ve had the battery checked and it seems fine. I´ve got the pump connector fitting as well as I can get it, the pump itself works when connected directly to power. It´s seems as if fitting the ECU to the block is causing the problem somehow!?

Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated as i´ve got to get to the bottom of this or go mad!!
