youknow how to get those c-clips in the piston to secure the gudgen pin.

the ones i got with theKolber pistons are very thick.you can't bend with a screw driver,

pain in ass

Proper circlip tool

nige, these havnt got a hole in the clips.

their wire type and around 1mm bleeding thick.

ive wasted a day.

i cant find any suitable tool. thire wire so keep sliding out of pliers. nothing to grip them from.

all the youtube tutorials make it look easy as their clips are way much thinner, you can bend them by hand.

Just tightened oil pump bolts. Used new ones and one snapped on 16nm? It was the one on the top (middle)

They all just keep turning. I am using the VW oem spring washers as per instructions. They seems to make a groove in the topran oil pump.

The torque wrench seems to be working fine.

Should I have just used regular flat washers?

These vw spring washers are like normal washers but twisted and deformers.

Standard spring washers from a tool store have like a cut in them.

Luckly the threads are fine in the blocks. But some of the bolts have deformed.

Not sure, these ebay bolts seem to keep stretching. I think I am going to get them done to 15nm and use locktite. somethings not right

Ended up using the 8.8 grade ones.

Never going to do 20nm ever on this again. Taking these skinny bolts to their limit.

Ended up doing 16nm. Give n take if torque wrench is not calibrated right.

One of the threads on the top I destroyed in the block.

Luckily the block allows 30mm bolt (with using a thick washer) So I used a 30mm instead of the 20mm and torqued it up to again 15nm with locktite. Did not want to over do it on this one.

I think the lesson learnt is have to use 8.8 for these things and obviously 10.9 for the cam bolts and crank caps

Do you know the torque setting for the rear main crankshaft seal. it'snot on the list.

The are very small bolts m6's.

10nm enough?
