I am mid way through a afh converaion on my polo mk3 coupe i was wondering if anyone could help

with with some advice on wiring and what old looms i can get rid of i have a mk2  ignition loom coil and amp on order 

 I've heard people say I can remove the old engine loom is this correct ?  Do I need any wires or plugs off it if so ?  If anyone knows of a build thread  can you send me a link over any help would be appreciated thanks !
