Another MOT question for you guys. 

My 6n has quite a large rusty hole in the spare wheel well and I would love some insight into whether this will fail its MOT next month. I’ve stupidly not paid much attention to it for the best part of a year and it’s now time to start worrying.

 

Terrible pics attached. Rust hole can be seen on the left of the second one in relation to suspension and stuff.

Anyone? 

Ive since cut out the rust and pop riveted some steel over the top of the hole, painted on top and covered with about a tonne of underseal underneath.

Is this likely to pass ? Doesn’t seem to be too close to anything structural and really can’t afford welding right now

I'm not a tester but it's nowhere near seatbelt anchorage points, which do matter. 

Cheers friend, all I can find online relates to land rovers, doesn’t seem to be a common  spot on our  rustproof VWs 

It would pay also to check for rust under the rear wheel arches and on the sills. - Don't be fooled by underseal being in good condition, metal worm manages to get underneath that stuff.

Cheers mate Already Found some big patches underneath jacking points, rear wheel arches were starting to go too but sorted (hopefully) both of these months ago. 

Just managed to neglect the one bit on the boot I could see!
