Hello,

 

For starters - it's a LHD 1.05 mk2f with 5 speed gearbox and 18mm arb.

 

So yesterday I fitted poly bushings on my MK2F anti rollbar (was a major pita, as I was doing it on a solid gravel surface and in a hurry) and noticed that the roll bar is rubbing all the way up against the gearbox's end pan and the downpipe. The oem bushings were really worn, as the washers would be constantly clunking against the tracking arm.

 

The car is lowered (which is supposed to be) 80mm at the front, but there's still long ways till my arches and has never rubbed even going over a speed bump at a decent speed, so not really sure about the exact lowered value.

 

I have been waiting on the better time for the arb blocks, but it is yet to come.

 

Can you install the roll bar the 'wrong way' as it didnt come to mind to check and as I didnt have the problem before?

I also had removed the roll bar before and installing it was not anywhere near as big of a problem the other time.

yes they will go on upside down...and are the bushes pulling the wheels forward

Which bushes exactly? 

The ones for the roll bar in the arm didnt feel like an issue, but the front two bushings were the ones causing pain when I installed them, when I tried pushing up the bar it would come horribly close to everything.

The wheels look somewhat centered from the side.

The caster improved with them compared to the old bushings, as the steering wheel started self centering more (there was pretty much none of it with the old ones), which would mean the wheels are being pulled forward.

either upside down or a 4 speed bar on a 5 speed box....or maybe its just too low ?

Well, good way to start off on this forum, I definitely did mess it up. For some reason, I was comparing the bends side to side, not up and down and I got it all switched up.

I will most definitely have some more questions as I'm a fairly new owner of this car.

Australian anti-roll bar?

I used a 4 speed bar with a 5 speed box and 60mm lowering for about 4 months and it wore away gearbox endplate right at the corner. I could even hear it hitting sometimes on awful Suffolk roads but thought it was just the suspension travel and did nothing until it leaked. Switching to 5 speed ARB correct way up and Leakfix sorted it for 9 years. (If anyone's got a spare 085 endplate, get in touch.)

Most definitely was an Australian one for a day, haha!

 

Swapped it back from the south pole to the north one today, before there are more consequences to fight with!

 

Who would've thought that putting it the correct way would cause so much more room to work with as well as way easier fitment?!
