Wires responsible for tacho

Featured Replies

Hello,

So I have been swapping a 1.6 ABU in my polo and my car came with the clock cluster originally. While I was swapping the engine, I also changed out the cluster for one with a tachometer, but it's not working currently.

I was wondering which wire is responsible for it? Is it going through the ECM to chassis connector (5 or 6pin, dont remember off of the top of my head)? I have 2 wires not connected there, a yellow and a yellow/white one. By schematics, both of those should be for Data Link Connector (named that way in those schematics), but on the 1.6 engine there is only one wire that connects to the DLC.

Where does the tacho get the singal from? Distributor or ECM?

If you need any additional info, I'll gladly answer.
