Volkswagen polo epc light after 3k

Featured Replies

Hi,

have got an issue with my Volkswagen Polo Gti 6n2. (ARC)

The epc light appears as soon as I hit 2.5/3k revs sending it into a sort of limp mode. I can blip the key off and on which resets it and is fine again until I hit the said revs.

ive done plenty of research and at my witts end with it, I’ve replaced a numerous amount of bits: throttle body, camshaft sensor, crank sensor twice, a new battery, even changed the ecu!

Reason for changing the crank position sensor twice is that is the code my scanner is reading, replaced with a cheap one originally from euro car parts. Still getting the code, then replaced for a genuine Bosch one which didn’t resolve the issue. (Still getting code???)

i then replaced the throttle body (second hand one) which didn’t solve the issue.

Also tried a new camshaft sensor, which didn’t sort the problem, then went on to buy a new battery.

Finally after all this not sorting it I figured it was the ecu. I replaced this and woopty doo its not the problem.

Ive checked all grounding locations for corrosion, and they all seem fine. I’ve also checked over virtually all the wiring from what I can see and it looks ok.

The reason I haven’t replaced the throttle pedal sensor is because what I’ve read up it won’t rev at all if this is the issue, and surely it would tell me on my scanner?

also when I unplug the throttle position sensor it goes lumpy straight away/on idle which tells me that’s not the problem.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Josh
