Hi all . I am after another 4-2-1 exhaust manifold for my gt bread but want one with the boss for the lamba ? I have one on my gt coupe with lamba boss already in but I brought it off someone on here quite a few years ago,

Please make out a wanted advert in the classified section as there is a note at the start of all the "Tech" sections "No wanted ads please use the classified section" 

they need to be added unless you have £400 ish to spend

Costs about 50 to have fitted, carefully mark the palce by comparing with the cat so it doesnt hit the tunnel

Needs a big drill bit and a file, or an arc welder to blow a hole in metal.

 

This probably means the 4-2-1 has to come off the engine.

On mine it was done in situ. I got a separate piece of tubing with a flat flange, lambda bung and some flexi-section made up.

Or maybe cut existing section of pipe with boss in and cut same amount off 4-2-1 , marry the two together? 

 

I have a exhaust pipe expanding kit maybe use it on the mild steel so affectivity it will expand the pipe allowing it to slide over the 4-2-1 pipe and seal and clamp together ? 

 

I have a mig but obviously the two won't marry together.

 

whats the issue ...buy the £2 boss /nut and weld it on ...no need to be expanding bits of pipe off another car and bodging it on

wasn't sure you can mig weld stainless steel .

Argon gas not CO2 ?

I have argon co2 mix

By the time I buy argon for my portamig and ss wire I think I might be better getting it done at a fab shop ?

i just used the set up for steel...dont recall what gas , the regular stuff

 

I believe co2 will rust and can cause hair line cracks in the ss. Argon mix gas or pure argon will not promote rust and wire must not be flux coated. 

Ahh just drill the hole and use gum gum to hold it in place 

its not a space shuttle youre welding up...just some cheap as chips made in china rubbish that rusts anyway

 

if you have a mig welder then it will be fine , its how most are done ...if you want to buy the proper wire and gas then yeah its better but dont overthink it  

But I like building a space shuttle 😄 yeah I just go for it and smash some pigeon s**t around it lol.
