Retrofit Carlink / Carplay

Hi everyone 

I have a 2015 Polo 6C 1.0 with the composition media (CD drive and SD card reader in glove box) 

I did want to fit retrofit a stereo with carplay/Carlink  but after speaking to a VW Coder not sure if I'm going to retrofit a composition unit that supports car play.

As he told me because my polo is a 2015 and they only introduced car play in 2016 I would need to remove the component protection  from a newer unitn(easy enough) but then would have to patch the system and get a licence for it which would be around the £500 mark . Plus second hand units are selling for around £60.

For this sort of money I was thinking there must be a stereo that looks and performs similar to factory ones with less headache. 

Unless anyone else knows a VW Coder that can do it cheaper? 

Is there any decent aftermarket units that look stabdard and work with the steering wheel?
