Well its my 1 year ownership anniversary today and I got this wonderful gift outside my partner's house in Oxford this morning

You can even see the regular deep sections that match someone's stride. So my polo does have something with Teslas after all - they both are magnetic to asshat's keys.

 

I'd go through the usual 'who the hell does something like this?!' but its useless really. The world is full of entitled morons, we just seem to have a penchant in this country for hoarding them in astonishing numbers.

Happened again on the weekend - and I think from parking in the same spot. Residential road, controlled parking, I had a permit both times but evidently someone doesn't like me parking there and feels costly damage to a stranger's wallet is more appropriate than a simple note. Going to knock on the doors closest and ask if they've seen anything, never know - might spook someone into realising there is concequence to their actions. Although I will be following Chuang Tzu's advice in the future and just not park there again, not worth the hassle!

 

Painted the first one and it still looks crap thanks to color matching 26 year old paint. Anyone got any tips for that?

chances are its the geezer whos house you are parked outside...see who takes the space when you dont , any other cars in the street keyed? 

None that I could see, no - just mine! The controlled parking is in marked bays but one of them has a 'driveway' line in it too - like the kind you see that means 'don't block the driveway'. Only its not a driveway - its just a paved front garden without a wall (very small front gardens on that street) with a couple of bins in it. Not disabled access (or at least definitely not marked as such) either. I was under the impression that if the council put a parking bay there then its fair game for parking if there isn't any special sign or reason to suspect otherwise.

 

My guess is this house feels like the original driveway line takes precedence over the council's bays, and combined with my visitor's permit they think "well they don't live here to f**k 'em" and get the keys out their pocket. Other cars that park there with residence permits don't get keyed. My partner lives on the road but we can't get a residence permit as the car is in my name (and brum address). I'll definitely be knocking next time I'm around!

 

I'll definitely have another go when its warmer next year - this was temporary to stop it rusting as they'd keyed through to steel in places. There's quite a few other bits I'd like to do as well so maybe a more comprehensive spray session is in order.

The plot thickens....

 

There has been a -horrendous- smell on the street, like that of the Rhino house at whipsnade zoo, a couple of days the past week. On both occasions a Yaris was parked in the spot i assumed I got keyed twice for.

 

First time I didn't think much of it but on Sunday eve it was stronger than before, the Yaris had evidently moved and come back to the spot from the Thursday previous, and....get this: The yaris was the only car on the street that was wet. Like it had been raining (it hadn't), only just over one side of the car. To go with this you could clearly see a wide splash mark on the pavement that matched the path of some unknown liquid that had bathed the Toyota.

 

This smell, for want of a better description, is that of weeks-old urine. There's nothing quite like it - this isn't the smell a person or animal makes when they 'use the street facilities'. My gut feeling the first night i smelt it was 'someone threw a bucket of piss over that yaris'. But the splash marks, droplets all over the car and the ---SMELL--- don't leave much room for doubt. Someone really, really doesn't want anyone parking in that space.

 

Honestly I'll take the keying.

 

(We'll be contacting the council and evironmental health if it happens again though, no doubt)

Definitely going to get it 'escalated'. Thankfully I won't be the only person noticing the behaviour now - I can only imagine how the neighbours feel with that smell outside their window!

Was going to suggest mounting a dashcam on the driver side somewhere so it gets a good wide view of the passenger side....but now it's extended to throwing aged bodily fluids I would park somewhere else and escalate it.

 

Saying that having one on your car might catch them doing it to others.
