Gt alternator

Featured Replies

The alternator is not charging the battery in my coupe S with a GT engine. When I bought the engine, the seller gave me a brand new alternator (9AR2896G). The mount will need drilled out or the mount itself slaved to suit the top bolt diameter. That's not a problem but the new alternator has a connection which should have a 3 pin plug on one side and a separate spade connector (B+) on the other. Any help with this would be much appreciated. This car is staring to do my head in!

Here's the electrical side of the new alternator. The one in the car just now only has 2 ring terminals🤔

do you really need to make this work ?  proper ones are easily avail or possibly worth trying a brush pack on the original one

I have just got the car back on Monday from the garage that sourced and fitted a new gearbox, fixed a oil and coolant leak. I can't justify spending another £100 for a new one atm. This was lying in my lock up🤷‍♂️. I fitted it this afternoon, and it seems like it's working perfectly. I swapped the pulley over from the old one, so the original belt fits as standard and drilled out the top mount to match the engine mount. I will try and remember to update this post in a month or so. Hopefully no more dead battery!
