Angel Eye "R8" style Headlights LEDs not working

Hi all. So, I bought these 2nd hand as I quite liked the look of the and think they suit the look of the car that I'm going for. When they arrived it was clear the loom had been modified to have the smaller 4 pin plugs, which was annoying as my car has the later 7 pin connector. Being lazy, I bought a 2nd hand 4 pin headlight loom from and earlier car and just plugged that in. Got the units installed and plugged in and everything works except for the side lights. I'm led to believe that the LED strip is supposed to function as the sidelights but nothing's coming on.

I'm sure I've seen someone else with these type of lights, would they or anyone else have any advise or experience with this issue?
