stronger starter motot 6N

Featured Replies

I need a stronger starter motor for the polo 6n afh;

is it case of taking old one to a shop and see if they can mix n match?

Current one is;

  • 9 Tooth Drive
  • Anticlockwise Rotation
  • 1.1 KW
  • 12V

Found this for a 6n diesel model: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-STARTER-MOTOR-12V-9-TOOTH-DRIVE-1-8kW-C-C-W-BOSCH-0001125-TYPE-STM545/223446724022?hash=item3406766db6:g:WmsAAOSwolpb2ZX1

WOSP LMS778 - VW 1.4 16V (AFH code) Reduction Gear Starter Motor
WOSP LMS778 - VW 1.4 16V (AFH code) Reduction Gear Starter Motor

This unit is based on a 1.4kW Denso starter motor which has been modified to suit this particular application.

All of our starter motors are 100% brand new and are built to the highest standards to withstand the rigours of all forms of motoring including Road, Race & Rallying.

Each unit is a direct replacement for the original starter motor and weighs less than the original with 2 - 3 time the power output.

Every Denso starter motor mounts in a unique circular stepped register which enables it to be spun 360 degrees on its own axis with ease giving the unit an infinite number of mounting positions.
Please note, if you require a multi-drilled end plate to enable the motor to be mounted in different locations please let us know at the time of ordering and we can supply these at no additional cost.

Wow that's a lot of money.

Diesel engines have higher compression so need more torque to spin until started (glow plug helps first few explosions).

If the fitting holes are the same it should help.

I found an engine preheater (in coolant circuit) made big difference to cranking speed - I think because tolerances less tight so friction down and oil warmed by passing through heated block, so it always started

at second attempt in awful conditions. The heat kept damp off the electrics too.

Also check the state and diameter of cables and earth straps.

alot of money yes. im gunna have tobuy it. i bought you earth straps for chasis block to battery.

the alternator cable to starter motor i left as i assume that has nothing to do with start up, thats just for charging battery.

so purchased two different types of batteries, new earth leads, two new start motors.

i think theres a reason why theress a 1.4kw starter motor availbel for the afh petrol engine.

battery to starter motor cable?

The reduction gearing will help. I think automobiles had to switch from hand-cranked engines as improved head design meant compression ratios increased. I suppose it has to push air past the turbine impeller on a turbo diesel too which means more starter power needed.

None in stock in club shop...
