Trying to find the engine number location on  the engine of my Mk2. Anyone know where it is? Thanks

above the alternator on the engine block , probably rusted away or caked in oil

will also be on the boot sticker and service book sticker if you have thoe

No. It is stamped, not cast.

 

Where the block protrudes from head a small flat shelf.

Will be 2 or 3 letters, then serial number 6 digits or so.

 

If the engine's not been changed over the years, the number should be on the V5/logbook.
