Hi Pete, I hope you can help me as I have the same problem with my front windows on my 2007 Polo 1.4 SE TDI 80.  They have been intermitant for a while & now no longer open. I've checked the wiring & it all seems to be ok as far as I can tell, no breaks & power available where it should be, I've also checked the drivers window motor by connecting directly to the battery & it is working.  I should be grateful if you could get back to me to let me know if you are able to repair my PCB please.

I'll be glad to help Richard. Have just messaged you. 🙂

Update on 2007 Polo 1.4 SE TDI 80

PCB received & both electric windows now working as they should.  Since owning the car the passenger window would not go back up using the drivers master switch, it does now.

Thank you Pete for a job well done & your level of communcations, very much appreciated.

My 2006 Polo (without remote unlocking) symptoms were:

  • Unable to centrally unlock from the drivers door
  • Couldn't operate the drivers or the passenger window from the driver side.
  • I could centrally unlock from the passenger side and operate the passenger window from the passenger side.

I contacted Pete and sent my part off the next day (6Y1959801). He was friendly and quick to respond throughout the whole time. Pete messaged to confirm he could fix it and then sent it back to me. Sent away, fixed and refitted all within a few days.

Can't recommend this enough if you have the same symptoms. I looked on ebay for replacement units which are selling in the £150 region and even if you fit one of these its possible to suffer the same fault again at some point.

Can open the car and go use drive throughs again now 🙂

Cheers

Look out for a private message shortly please Gary.

Hello Pete,

I may require your repair services. Car is 2007 Polo 9N3.

Have the following symptoms:

Driver's side window works fine.

Passenger side does not work at all from the switch on the driver's side or the passenger side. However - unplugging the connector to the motor and plugging it back in will make it work temporarily on the passenger side switch. As soon as you turn the ignition off it goes back to not working at all.

So I'm not sure if it's the passenger side motor or the driver's side that is causing the issue, but I suspect it's driver's side. Could remove one or both of them and send to you for inspection and repair?

More likely a broken wire, between the driver's and passenger side modules I think. Or corroded connection of that wire at either or both A-pillar connectors. The wire I'd be suspecting is the lilac/white one that goes across the cabin via pin 20 of the 21-way connector at the A-pillar either side.

I think there are some photos on previous pages showing telltale green corrosion products on the mating face of these connections, posted by someone with similar troubles.

The trouble tends to start when the rubber boots/bellows covering these loom sections are pulled away to look for broken wires, but not put back sufficiently well to keep the weather out. The connectors within are not waterproof.

Hi thanks very much for the reply. I already gave the connectors inside the door hinge a good blast of contact cleaner which fixed the issues  with the central locking and courtesy light but unfortunately not the windows. There was deffo some corrosion and greenie meanies inside the connectors. Will have another go at it and check the continuity on that lilac/white wire. Thanks again.

Just to confirm I am now a new member of the Pete fan club, messaged on Saturday windows now working again on Tuesday

Thanks Pete

Hi Gwba, do you know anyone that might be visiting the UK sometime soon? Postal and customs delays can be painfully slow for getting things to mainland Europe since Brexit. 🙁

Hello,

It has now been 2 months since I got my board back after repair.

And it's been working fine for 2 months now with no issues.

Although it has a cost, it is worth it.

Thanks again to Pete for his expertise, his good follow-up messages and information on the part and sending it.

Regards from Belgium.

                             Alain.
