Polo 9n3 Passenger Door Won't Open (Inside or Outside)

Hi all, 

Really need help here! I'm currently unable to open the passenger door on my 9n3 from either the inside or outside. Situation as it stands:

- When operating the central locking the door pin doesn't rise

- When operating inside lever the pin rises then drops

- Outside handle now disconnected from the cable. I did this in an attempt to manually pull the arm back or push forward to reset. 

- I've tried knocking on the outside and inside while unlocking or pulling handle/lever.

- All other doors operate fine

- I can hear the slack being taken up on the latch

I'm a bit stuck on what else I can try before I start butchering the door card!

Has anyone else had this problem and were you able to solve it?
