First time looking for a part that isn't manufactured any more (Gear Selector Bellows)

Featured Replies

So the worst has happened...

As mentioned by our Lupo friend, the part is not manufactured anymore with no aftermarket parts, since it is only for my cables-operated transmission box (6N1, MK3, 1.6 AEE, DKE)

The part is the Gear Selector Bellows 6N0711167A and it looks like the attached photo, while my expectedly shredded one looked like the other attached photo...

Any ideas?

Thanks

How about 2024? Any solution for this?

Hi

I had to renew that on one of my 6N1 too, while i was restoring the polo underneath.

Found it 3D printed on our german classified ads "kleinanzeigen.de" for 20Euros each and bought two cos i have two polos.

Its a flexible and not hard material. In that time he had only that colour, in the meantime he prints them also in black.

The seller also told me how good that material is an how long it will last. I will have make my own long time experiences with that.

With a little bit more search you'll find that 3D print files for download for small money in case you know somebody with such a printer an know how, than you ont have to buy the printed part.

Also buy such a new rubberball, cos you have to demount it for mounting the cover, and then fill it up with grease before closing the cover.

After mounting it i only drove the polo once for half an hour.... it feels that you need more strenght to select the reverse gear. I hope that fades with the time and when it gets warm from the engineheat.

Yeah i was also glad to find that. VW Classic Parts reproduces so many different other unuseful things... why not that out of rubber.....

I was looking at the pictures and thought maybe I should post them here, for closure!

So I ordered a 3D printed part from eBay (in USA, somehow, where there are no Polos) and the rubber ball.

When I took it off I've noticed there is a weird rubber ball INSIDE the metal hub, and not on the rod for some reason. Don't know what's up with that.
