Boot only opens with key

Evening all, 

Have had a quick search and can't find anything but have only just joined so apologies if I've missed it. 

So, my boot makes all of the right buzzy electrical noises when using the fob or the handle but doesn't actually open. Only works with the key.

I have yet to come across a polo that doesn't have some sort of central locking gremlin so hoping the hive mind can help before I start dicking around with things. 

The struts are also knackered so have some new ones on the way but I imagine I'm being rather optimistic that this might solve it.
