Curious if anyone has ever fitted MK2 golf GTi 8v Weber carbs on a polo gt , looking to fit carbs and their are a few sets of golf ones for sale close to home. 

Any advice appreciated 

be a bit more specific , golf gti didnt come with weber carbs , what sort of weber are you talking about they made several

Twin 40s sorry, only reason im looking at them instead of bike carbs is i know someone selling a set of twin 40s locally. couldnt find much info on people fitting them to gt engines. thanks

I think @dvderlm runs twin 40's on his ?

Yep, running twin 40 Dellorto DHLA from a Lotus Esprit Turbo, though running naturally aspirated without boost. Maybe next year.

 

Side draught DCOE?

 

DHLA are better than DCOE (especially if you can find none emissions models).

Better choke system, better pump jet mechanism, better atomization, jets that go up in 1s not 5s, idle air corrector separate from idle jet.

 

But bike carbs will use less fuel than Weber or Dellorto as they are slide carbs

not fixed venturi.

 

Are you planning other mods, such as big cam, bigger valves, bigger exhaust?

 

I'd strongly recommend mappable ignition. The GK engine Dignition is mapped, but for a twin choke Pierburg with 22/26 chokes on a heated inlet manifold.

Twin 40s have much lower vacuum, but massively higher top flow. Advancing the ignition according to engine load and revs solves that.

 

I have a thread on here with twin40 jettings for various cars round 1300cc

with Weber and Dellorto and Solex covered.  Depends what you want from the car. Trackday screamer or comfortable grand tourer?
