Hi all,

I tried another Polo forum but there doesn't seem to be anyone out there! I own a Volvo, but this week I bought a 1999 Polo CL 1.4 from a neighbour. It has sat on her drive since the Mot ran out in mid 2021, covered in moss etc. It has done only 16,500 miles which is slightly nuts. So basically I'm using it as a summer project, so any info will be very much appreciated. My first question is where is the most likely area for rain to get in and soak the driver's side floor? I seem to have answered my own question, 24 years of gunge under the scuttle tray!

That would do it. Make sure all the drain holes are clear too and just give it a good deep clean inside and out. You can do the engine bay too. Just cover up the battery, alternator and fuses with bags/towels.

Thanks for that. I gave it all a good clean yesterday and the drains are free now. Just cleaning the mould from inside today. New discs and pads on order, then it's finding out why the instrument cluster doesn't always work, a common problem I believe. Then it's hopefully MOT time, the first in 3 years.
