Can anyone help identifying the clips/grommets/fasteners which hold the Polo CL badge on the tailgate of my 1988 Polo?

The badge became loose so I removed it before it fell off. The badge has just two small flat tabs which locate in the holes in the tailgate, but there is no sign of any means of securing it in place. Are the clips still available? If not, does anyone have any suggestions, other than gluing the badge to the tailgate?

I don't think that the grommet clips that you have identified would work.

I think that I will have to remove the tailgate panel to get access to the inside and look at the clips that are holding the Volkswagen badge on.

Will probably need new clips for the panel too, as in my experience, some tend to break when being removed.

Having looked into the issue of badge clips in a bit more detail I think dvderlm has pointed me in the right direction. Anyway, they are cheap enough to take the risk, so I will get some and report back.

Good news. I bought 10 grommets from 227sparts on eBay for less than a fiver. The guy selling them (Richard) was very helpful, although he could not confirm that they would fit my Polo, it seemed unlikely that they would not. And I can cofirm that they did fit, and the Polo CL badge is now back on the tailgate!
