Mk5 2017 TSI 1.2 DSG 7-speed Revs Fluctating and Changing Up Late

Featured Replies

Hello,

I hope this is the right section area of the forum to post this.

I have a Polo 2017 DSG TSI 1.2. Bought it from VW dealer when it was 3 yrs old, 1 owner, 10k on clock. Had it for coming up to 4 yrs now, mileage is only 30k.

It’s been fine, up until 3 months ago.

the revs started oscillating when I move off from stationary (happens when cold and hot) when I touch on the gas sometimes

it fluctuates up to 1500 and comes back down again and then up and down cont., but I have to keep foot lightly on the gas, if I come off the gas it just

creeps as normal and doesn’t oscillate.

It’s also changing up late from 2 to 3. It doesn’t shift up to 3 until about just over 2000 rpm. Before it used to shift up to 3 definitely less than 2000 rpm.

Revs seem to be higher than what’s needed for the load, and MPG seems to be worst, also if I’m going along on 4, the moment I come off the gas, it used

to coast and stay in higher gear nicely, now it’s changing down much earlier than needed from what I can remember when it was fine. And also it slows

down a lot as if the gearbox is braking for me.

Idling is quiet and fine at 600 to 700 rpm, fan off. No noises from DSG gearbox. And power doesn’t seem to be so strong now. No error codes on

the dashboard at all. No shuddering or jerking or jumping gears.

This last year, I’ve been coasting in neutral a fair amount to be fuel efficient, do you think that confuses the electronic system ( I heard that it learns

driving style ).

ManyThanks in advance

Chi
