Polo 9n3 Courtesy Light installation

Featured Replies

Hello guys, first post here so i hope I'm doing everything right.

As the title says I am trying to install door courtesy light in the front doors of my 9n3 polo (2009). Normally it has an empty reflector.

I've done some reserach and i found this thread on the forum: https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/topic/361858-polo-9n3-door-courtesy-lights/?page=1

So I built a circuit with two n channel mosfet that was designed to take 12v from the motor power cables and use the door switch as the trigger. I've soon find out that the voltage on the door switch only drop from 12 to 9 volt when the door is closed so the light stays on all the time. So now I'am wondering about what to do. In the same thread I've read about how the factory install should be done. I have no problem about putting a relay in the relay box, i am fine with passing a cable from the dash to the doors. I'am not sure about taking a pin from the central convenience unit. Then i am not sure, would in work out of the box or will it need the unit to be reprogrammed? I've plugged in the vcds and in the output test of module 46 it says "door warning light" so maybe it will just work? otherwise i tought about getting a signal from the central dome light, I'll need to bring it to the doors and then i would use the circuit i've built with the dome light signal as the trigger. So I am open to suggestion I don't really know what 's better to do, thanks for the help.
