Could anyone help me, please?

I have a 2001 VW Polo III (6N2) 1.4 TDI and I need to remove the high-level brake light (the third brake light located at the top of the tailgate). As I do not have the vehicle manual, I cannot work out the correct way to remove it without damaging it.

I have searched online but have been unable to find any information specific to this model. On the inside of the tailgate, there are two round rubber covers which I have already removed. However, I cannot find any retaining screws. All I can see are two black plastic pieces with a slot in them. I have tried sliding them in both directions, but without success.

It seems to me that the brake light may be held in place by clips or springs, and that these plastic pieces might be used to release it. However, I am concerned about breaking the light unit, so I would appreciate some guidance before applying any more force.

If anyone has removed this brake light before or knows the correct procedure, I would be very grateful for your advice. Also, if any member has a digital copy of the workshop manual or owner's manual for the VW Polo 6N2 (1999-2001) and would be willing to share it, I would greatly appreciate it.
