And I've bought some new wheels seeing as the gearbox is all OK. They are German, they are BBS, I cannot say any more until they are in my possession!!! :smirk:

I love it when it's cloak & dagger stuff!!!!!

Personally I hope there is dish involved & chrome!!!

Good news Si about the little niggles you have, much cheaper on the wallet!!!!

I'll be out & about to see if I can find you lurking in various corners of Shropshire with them new rims!!!! :ninja:

Cheers!!

Forgot to mention the next few modifications that are planned, hopefully in time for E38...

New rear lights... Lupo GTi front aero wiper setup... deletion of the rear wiper... and... the new euro-spec mirror of course!

I really really really really really want BBS RM/S for my polo! Looks well nice mate!

did you take pics of the wiper removal at the rear?

I haven't gotten around to it yet mate! Soon though. I'll take pictures as I go and post them up!

Cheers

Very nice, Si

looking good Si - proper oem+ like.

looking forward to seeing the stubby drivers mirrors on.

did see you the other day, the car looked well clean.

imo, could do the some more girth on the wheels or 165/50s ?!

Yeah was thinking about the wheels today, think I need 20mm spacers on the back to bring them out a bit. Ideally, 7.5 dishes on the rear would be perfect but I've only just put the RMs on so I'm not doing anything to them... yet!

I was also wondering what the car might look like if I stripped the GTi badges and smoothed the boot plus fitted a kamei badgeless front grille! Need to get on photoshop methinks.

IMHO the badgless grill with the bonnet cut out doesn't look that great. Smoothed boot YES

Ah well you see, if I choose the kamei front grille then the bonnet would also be modified, firstly to extend it to make up for the half-moon gap left by the removal of the standard grille, and secondly if the bonnet is off being modified then the kink between grille and headlights can also be smoothed away like Alex did in this image of his car:

So there would be no half-moon gap left behind... :-D

I'm in the market for a Gti, and I was sure I wanted a silver. Now I'm note sure anymore. Love the RM's!

Latest UPDATE: the car is soon to be for sale! I'm in the process of removing the modified bits and going back to standard to sell the car. BUT the coilovers will stay ON the car as it is not worth the expense in removing them to make a small profit (only about £100-150). So if you want to buy it off me modified, get in touch FAST!

The black badges are sold, the Enfig aerial is sold, the de-locked door handles are provisionally sold if I remove them from the car any time soon. The BMC is due for removal and the exhaust has been provisionally sold off too! Just the RMs to shift, once they are off the car...

Cheers

How much would you be after for the RM's, i have no idea how much they usually go for!

The RMs will not be for sale, I have plans for them ;)

Some interior stuff to do too, hopefully before Ultimate Dubs!

Cheers

Its been a while since I visited this thread!

Been lying low over the winter, but have sourced a few bits and bobs. Bought some new (wider) dishes for the RMs, got a few more things to do to the wheels before they go on though. Strip and rebuild with some new and updated parts, for starters! Fitted aero wipers on the front, got one for the rear but haven't fitted it just yet as I might de-wiper it instead. Also, had to have a replacement windscreen after finding a crack in the glass, so took advantage and fitted a Lupo GTi satin black rear-view mirror:

mirror-before-and-after278.jpg

Bought it new from the dealer (with a bit of discount) after failing to find a used one.

Some may have spotted, from the RR day results, that the olop is down on power (still). This appears to be down to a couple of sensors that need replacing - cam speed sensor and camshaft position sensor if memory serves. Will combine this job with the new cambelt, water pump etc that is due.

Not a great deal else going on, next job is road tax at end of month... got a Kamei debadged grille here too that I may fit at some point!

My polo gti was down on power the same as yours and i had the same 2 sensors replaced about a week ago and i had my cambelt done around 3weeks b4 that. I found with the sensors gone my car seems to cut out at traffic lights which it doesnt do any more :-D

But i didnt really feel much of a power gain in the first few gears but is a little better on the motorway.

Let me no how your car gets on when you have the sensors replaced.

Cheers
