Was hoping for bodywork and engine to be done by bvf. Neither is done yet! :p All done for e38 and or polo show though hopefully yeah. It will be leather I think. I'm not 100% decided yet, but I'm pretty sure it will.

Everything's on hold at the minute while I finish uni (one month to go!) Still in the bodyshop at the min. Been there nearly a year! Crazy really but I've not really had time to use it anyway since I started my new job last june. Last time I checked there was one door left to paint and some tidying up underneath (this was before christmas!) I did have a pic but can't find it now.

Have had these wheels waiting in the wings for it.

15x7 ET35 Borbet As. Got some 175/50/15 tyres for them to go on when it comes back. Not sure whether they will suit it yet but I think they will. Still got the cup replicas too. May get them refurbed while these are on.

The car is out of the bodyshop, and those of you who were at the polo show will have seen that it's been resprayed. Not 100% happy with the job so it has to go back for some finishing touches. I had hoped to drive down to the polo show with the borbet A's fitted but it was just scrubbing too badly on the N/S/F arch so I had to take them off on the Thursday before I drove down, but not before I took some pics!

I'm having second thoughts about them looking at these pics. I think they might look better in reality rather than when captured by an ageing digital camera. I've still got the CWs to get refurbed and then there's a decision to make!

Couple of things are still a work in progress as you can see. The interior is as it was 18 months ago. I've managed to sort the rear suspension, although it may need dropping just a touch. The engine is still in the process of development. I've had a few problems with sourcing the right conrods and a set of pistons that haven't been scraping down the bores on the side these engines lean over on. (both the original set from the ABU engine and a set off AEE pistons I acquired were like this) I'm hoping to have the engine in and ready for testing by the January Rolling Road day. The interior will probably be done over the winter period too.

i like the shape of the wheels they suit the derby very well. if the wheels are 15inch its almost as if a 14.5 inch set would be bob on.

maybe a little bit of arch pulling to help bring the car down that tiny but more?

Thanks, I'm having the current interior re-trimmed to match the car. Corrado front seats + Standard rear bench. yeah they're 15x7 ET35, rear arches have already been fettled, should have had the fronts done too but thought they'd be ok. I think the problem is the driveshaft on the side the wheel scrubs on is off an early mk3 but the box is off a very late one. On later boxes the output flange on the passenger side is changed to a longer one and the driveshaft is shortened by the corresponding amount. So the setup I've got on there now is too wide, pushing the wheel and strut out.

the derby looked mint at the polo show, the paintwork is really good, good luck with getting the little bits sorted out with your painter but i reckon he should do it foc.

Didnt see the pics of it once you had the borbets on but it looks rude with the rake stance, love it mate

Sorry man - but look at your original pictures. The car was beautiful then. I sympathise that you've spent so much time and effort on it since then but you need to be brave and admit its going in the wrong direction. Get the original deep dish wheels back on plus all the trim and another original interior would be perfect but that will probably be too hard to achieve. The new look is all confused. Sorry.

I kinda get the impression you've not read this thread? But I shall explain everything that's happened since the first set of pics (again).

The borbet As were a bit of an experiment. I'm not convinced myself. (see post you quoted above which discusses this and the wheels you mention) Everything else that's been done needed doing - the de-trim was a prep for the respray. I've still got all the bits, mainly because I never throw anything away. But really wasn't worth putting any of it back on because it was all so delapidated, the only bit of decent chrome left was on the car was the grille (and grille spolier) I will get around to replacing it all eventually, hopefully with NOS stuff. I did keep the original interior for a while, and wanted to keep it that way. But the drivers seat was broken and dangerous and had to get rid of it. Corrado seats might not look quite right, but they do have the advantage of making it more comfortable for me to sit in the car. When they're re-trimmed they'll look awesome, in keeping with the age of the car as much as possible.

I think most people are aware that it's a WIP and I was just excited to get it back after the respray, so did something quickly to get it on the road before the polo show.
