Standard Teardrops are not 7Js, they are 6Js...

You won't get stretch on a 6J. A low profile 155 or 165 might be slightly stretched but do you really want a tyre that narrow?

not yet, shes in the paint shop - sorry, 6j is correct. i'm not over concerned about a stretch, i just want low profiles that will fit in the arches and wont chnage the rolling radius. - would a 185/45/14 be good?

Can't get 185/45 I don't think. Best bet would be 195/40s if you want some really low profiles, or 185/50s if you want to keep your speedo somewhere near right, and a bit of ride comfort too!

right, i am totally new to this. So i am going to purchase some borbet t's or ats cups (14'', 7j) and i want a decsent stretch but not to much, i want it to be safe i wish there could be 185/45/14

but will 185/50/14 look okay, also what mm could i lower it to i was thinking 50-60 mm on just springs (not adjustables) how low could i go without having trouble with rubbing.(i've got a mk4) :-D

I'm thinking of getting 175/50/13's for my BBS's which are a 6j, reckon that will be alright ? I'm just looking for some low profile really 'cos my car is going to be dropped 80mm all round. thanks

Just bought some some bbs ra's for my 6n, after I've polished em up, ill need some tyres. I keep reading no stretch for 6j on 15s, is this the case on 14s too? Could someone do me the honors of recommending a try size please. Car is on its arse, if that helps.

Also on the subject of tyres, i love the look of yoko's(prada) but my mate keeps raving on about toyo proxys, can some one tell me any advantages/disadvantages, except price, i can figure that one out myself. Ta.

personally, I like stretch, so 6.5 would be rather skinny,

175 50s would not give you a lot of stretch, personally I'd try for some wider wheels

unless you want to put 145's on there and have no traction

I know you guys are probably fed up of answering questions but i'm looking at getting some decent width tyres for my 7.5j banded 6n steels. They came with 165/55/13's on them, which personally i love the look of but I know isn't at all safe. I've spotted some 205/60/13, and also some 195/50/13 Nankangs but I'm really not sure what to go for :/ Ideally i'd like to get rid of all stretch, but not have balloons lol. Advice will be gladly received

I've got 145/60/13 on 6"x13 rims they look quite stretched.never had any trouble mot or anything . all lip exposed and look quite good .car bog standard though so no performance to worry about ,

I have purchased a set of RH AEROTECH wheels (aka GTI Engineering) these were fitted to MK2 jetta by GTI Engeneering. They are 15"x7J ET37. I'm looking to run either 185/45/R15 or 195/45/R15 tyres on them. Which ones will work best on a my 6N polo? Arches are standard and I do not intend on doing anything to them.

Just want a little stretch that's all. What are those nankangs are like? Ps I'm at the moment about 70mm drop. Can do maybe another 5mm no more then that.

195/45 will be fine at that height. They have mixed opinions I have never had them as I would rather a decent tyre

Ran 155/55/14's on 7 inch wheels at the front and 175/50/14's on 8 inch wheels at the back.

Had 34 psi in them.

Not a single problem with popping off or loss of air and they were on there since last Christmas.

Granted it handled like wank though.

I run 165/50/15 on my 7j borbets, same on my 8j too and there fine no issues

I run 165/50 on 8 and 185/45 on 9 no problems at all

i have 185/55-14 on 6" scala,s and want to put 165/60-14, on but will it handle shit and have less grip?

I've been told because the 165 side wall is stretched the wall wont flex as much so will still handle and grip the same,is this right?

Your removing width so your losing grip less contact latch equals less grip. The tyre won't be strecthed and if u want grip go for a smaller side wall
