Insuring a car for use at work.

Featured Replies

I've just started a new job and have to undergo institutionalised brainwashing (training) in the next town. In order to claim my travel back, I have had to get my insurance altered to cover me for business use, but I also need an employer indemnity clause that reads something like:-

"The insurer undertakes to indemnify the employer in the event of a claim being made against the employer whilst the insured's vehicle is being used on the official business of the employer".

now I'm underwritten by Highway insurance through HIC and the nearest I can find is :-

"We will also insure the following people under this section......

.......your employer or business partner (but only if your current certificate of motor insurance states that business use is allowed"

are the two clauses equivalent to one another?

just to get the petrol money back I need to show:-

1) that I own the car on the V5C

2) the insurance certificate

3) my drivers lisence

4) an MOT
