random idle speed

Hi my 6n 1.3 has decided that its idle speed is no longer going to be 900rpm and it now varies from 500- 1500 rpm

sometimes the idle will bounce from 750 to 1250

sometimes it will idle at from 500 upto 1500

there seems to be no common sign before this happens it just does it but drives fine it can happen cold or hot but most likly when warm after being parked for a couple of hours

I can only guess on a temp sensor but dont know for sure any ideas anyone ?
