Well finally got my crimbo prezzie- 14x7 et 25 and 14x8 et 20 borbet T's. Just need to wait till my local garage is back open after xmass to get my falkens stretched on, been eyeing it up and recon the tyres should just about tuck into the arches and give me some clean stance!. pics:

Well when I'm doing mechanical stuff-gettin oil on my hands etc i stick them on, then when i wanna work on the body i can take em off, tend to get pretty carefull when you spend a summer respraying a car! watch american hot rod with Coddington or overhaulin with chip foose and every mechanic has gloves on!

Make sure to keep the front grille black!! Colour coding the grille on a mk3 would just look wrong, well actually I've never seen one colour coded!! More pics soon please!!

Nice Work

Got the same old black one i had since new, no worries, gonna try and stick pics up everyday now 4 the rest of the week as i have time on my hands, searching tommorow 4 new front cross membery thing that the front bumper mounts to, need also the bolts and pin for my passenger door cos i bagged and labelled them when i took them off and must have binned them by accident when clearing up. Also next on the list is fabricating some custom mounts 4 the rear bumper cos god damn it just wont fit tight if at all, anyone else have trouble gettin mk3 rear bumpers to mount with neat shut lines??

hehe, just playing with you man.. looking forward to see at all together :D

quick update, spent last couple days making new bumper mounts to get the damn thing on right and managed to find a new cross member 4 the front and orders bolts from the main stealer., started wet sanding and polishing the paint and got down to the tricky job of istalling central locking, remote locking and solenoid poppers- not alot of room 4 all the components so I've been playin with it 4 a while nice kit though :

Tyres are getting fitted on wednesday, I'm waiting for a guy i know to fit them cos he wont mind stretching them and never damages them either. i should also have my SLR charger back by then so i can take some nice shots. Some more pics to come tonight.

one little teaser pic with the crappy instant, getting really close to rolling it out, just the glass to go back in, wiring to sort, bolt on the bumpers and out she goes- then it will be polishing time.

almost ready to role, just need to sort out the shut lines on the rear bumper cos it just doesnt fit tight as standard.

I LOVE this car so far, that back end looks fantastic at the minute mate!! I been plannin to strip out my mk3 some time in a year or so, when I do I think I'm gona get myself one of them fibreglass bootlids and smooth it out like yours!!

Question: Where oh where do you get those rear lights, couldnt post me a link could you? I was looking all over ebay the other day but no luck!!

  • Author

Ther just a higher spec light, from the GT or G40 and i think, not too hard to get a hold of. Your best bet is to pick some up second hand i bought mine about a year ago on ebay for £25!! Smoothing a fiber glass tail gate might not be all that grand, the only option would be to simply fill the recess pieces, you couldn't weld them and too much filler isn't a good idea, best to read up on it 1st though. cheers 4 the comments mate.
