bought a private reg, S111 JFF, but need to split the letters and numbers to spell SH UFF, and was wondering how legal/illegal it would be to get these plates, and what would the consiquences of getting them, and being pulled?

It would be illegal. But it depends on the cop on the day as to what your punishment might be. Some people get away with it there whole life. Some people put it on and hours later there slapped with a fine.

However, if you space it wrongly and are told to correct it and don't they can take the private plate off you.

Depends on the officer at the time, Seen so many plates with incorrect spacing and fonts, with police driving by, they dont get pulled. I heard about the plate being taken off you thing too, yet I've not seen it happen to anyone. At the end of the day it boils down to how much risk your willing to take, same with running germans.

I've been stopped for incorrect spacing twice...once just a talkin too. The 2nd time i had 14 days to change em and get a MOT stamp upto the polis.

i guess you would just be looking at a £30 fine if u got pulled. probably depends on how eye catching your car is as to whether you actually get stopped - u see standard X5s etc with illegal plates but never get pulled

i got pulled on thursday for german style font, not pressed steel, just the the font on acrylic plates. just got a vehical defect form and a producer.
