hi people, just thought I'd ask people's opinion on what colour 2 paint me wheels, black or white?

they'll be going on a black mk4.

As i cant be aarsed to try and polish the rim!!

They'd look wicked with a mirror polish

they would reaally look great with a polished rim... if you cant be arsed get someone to do it for some money I'm sure there will be some people on here willing to do it. also i think rocco-jocco style black rims with diamond cut rims looks great maybe that finish?

they look like the 14's of mk2 golf. quality wheels. get that rim polished and centres painted black.

I'm gonna give it another go at polishing the rim 2day, they prob would look best with a polished rim and black spokes.

10 points to iggi, they are 14's but a think there off a mk1 gti, the bloke a bought them off had it in his garage on pirelli p''s.

if i get anywhere with them al post a pic l8r.

well, been cracking on and I'm down to the last grade of wet n dry, a think there lookin quite good, if i do say so myself!

blowin my own trumpet a lil but never done this b4 and I'm a lil chuffed! gonna get some aluminium polish soon and some spray paint.

I'd spray them the colour of your car then diamond cut the face and lip!

is it an idea to laquare the rims or just keep on top of them with polish????

I'd laquer it,with plenty of thin coats around the rim,followed by a final couple of coats over the entire wheel.

I'd then get the laquer on the rims ultra smooth with some smooth polishing compound. Afterall,if they're not practical everyday,whats the point?

I'd probably muck it up,aswell - but still :)

I'd personally say from experience don't lacquer the rim. Its supposed to protect the metal but I find that water always makes its way underneath and then you have to repolish the wheels because they get ruined. I'd just make sure that there kept clean. Maybe once a week when the weathers good but when its bad twice. Just use a wheel sealant on them and just keep them clean and you should be fine. I've always done that and never had a problem so far.

Plus if you ever kerb one you can always polish it out without having to strip the lacquer, polish it then relacquer it. You get a better shine with bare metal too

The wheels are BBS RJs by the way.

yeh i was gonna say lacquer doesnt work well on polished surfaces. i used to wax my wheels to stop brake dust and shit sticking to them so they would jet wash of easily

good job a read this, was gonna laca them, av heard mixed things.
