Elec window regulator repair kit for 6N Mk4-DIY fit?

I know the unreliability of the 6N's electric windows has produced many threads in the forums but I was wondering if anyone has fitted the regulator motor repair kit (6N3 998 801 A) themselves, what it contains and how easy it is to do...

My window is stuck halfway but the switch seems OK and the motor still makes a noise when you press the switch so I thought I would try fitting this kit but the most DIY I have done on the car is to change the electric door mirror after someone knocked it off...(took me half a day!)

Reluctant to put it into the dealer as I know they will try on the "needs a new motor" routine (and I can't really afford it...)but I don't want to get in over my head either(!)

Any advice gratefully received...
