the interior is a mixture of my polo -76 sidepanels and carpets and mk1 rabbit (USA) front and rear seats.. looks pretty goos, but sometime I will get the front seats sewn over again and make low back versions.. (If you know what I mean :))

Like ones witout the head rest bit? That would be pimp. But have to keep them brown!

Yes, that is the chairs I am talking about.. Of course they are gonna stay beige :)

Now I am gonna start the long promised thread of my racetrack polo. I am not finished with it, but a lot of work has been put in to it during the last three years.. When I bought the derby and the polo they looked ok (picture below). But they look better than they are. The polo had serious rust issues although it looked ok.

The derby was build to old skool look within the first year. The polo was the next year stripped down and taken apart for a total makeover. More to come tomarrow..

the dismantling begun.. I found more rust than what I hoped for..

the plans where made and parts bought in:

old skool exterior

original color

all the chrome

wheel arches just widened a bit

13x7 ats classics

lowered to the ground

the exeption from the old skool look is the glass fiber hood. But I need it for weight reasons.

Race Interior:

5p sparco harness

sparco glassfiber bucket seats

paintet steel, no carpets, innerlining and such

modified dash

wiechers full rollcage

aluminium doorsides

battery tray moved to the back of the car

plastic side -and rear windows.

Technical

Suspension:

using all suspension parts for the polo2f

hard and supportive bushings

all struts you can get for this car

gewindefahrwerke

custom upper damper bearing

engine:

3f engine

new camshaft

matched top and manifolds

custom exhaust

4x 36mm mikuni mc carbs

ignition from a MH engine

hoping to reach 95hp

Brakes will be 239mm vented in the front, while I have not decided on what I am going to use at the rear yet.

All these parts are now bought except from the gewindefahrwerk.

first the work of getting rid of all the rust, and wash away all the asphalt and glue started:

I also began on freshening the engine a bit. ( the tractor in the rear is my porshe allgaier tractor from 55'. I just love my rust red porsche)

this was what I did the first and second year.. Things went kinda slow :)

By the way, what do you think my mom had to say about her lawn becoming a workshop :)

the winter came and then the early spring.. I bought myself a car just for parts. It is also nice to know that I have a car mounted together so that I can check out how things are supposed to be when mounting starts :)

this summer came and I took the car out of the garage once again.

Now The steel work really started and the chassis began to near painting

Washing glue with paint thinner

spare tire well cut out to make battery tray.

A few places I have added some steel

Backplate cut out, sandblasted under and a new plate welded on:

I could not get a new front plate, so I had to fix the old one:

A quick test with the reinforced rear beam sandblasted and painted with new bushings mounted on. I had also done some work to the wheel arches:

The last thing I did before this autumn came, was to sandblast the engine compartment , innerfloor and underside of the car and put one layer of epoxy ground coat over it. This car is not far from being painted now.

thanks for all the feedback guys :) I went to racetrack with my derby last weekend, and that made me want to quicken the progress on this car. I have begun shopping for more parts to be able to get it on the road next year. I have also started looking for å g40 engine. I love the gt - mc carbs engine I have build, but 150hp with turbo would have been awesome

Got something in the mail from wiechers.de today :) I just love german perfectionism..
