I own a '97 6N, have a set of aftermarket mirrors which I want to attach to the car. They are the kind that can use a universal adapter plate such as these ones:

I have now bought two different sets of these plates, both of which would apparently fit a '97 6N, but the screw holes on the plates are completely different from the ones on my doors. I even tried to butcher the first set so that they would fit, but no joy.

Can anyone advise me where I can get a set that will actually fit onto my car?
