New Owner

As some of you know over easter weekend I broke my 1l 6n (45mph into a ditch will kinda do that). Not wanting to send my insurance through the roof i didnt tell my insurance company as noone else was involved and was my fault.

Repairs were quoted at £500 - 700 quid and as i only payed £700 for it in first place i stuck it on ebay as a spares repair project and it sold for £300. Filled out V5 and sent off like a good boy and after months of saving and driving round in a nasty escort i had enough money to buy my valver.

Got the new V5 for it through and remembered that i hadnt got a letter back saying i was no longer the owner of the old crashed one.

In the space of two weeks, the car has been impounded twice (once for parking and now again for no insurance), has gained 4 parking fines at £90 each, driving the wrong way up a one way street - £120 fine, and driven though a red light - fine and points.

Cost the new owner £150 to get the car released the first time and will cost same again this time (though impound says it'l be crushed in a day or two if he's not quick)

Spent about s day calling and writing to the police and dvla to get myself off the records for this car and hopefully il get the change of ownership stuff back in a few days.

I'm not liable for any of this but I'm annoyed that a DVLA screw up has left me with this mess to sort.

Lession learnt - pester the dvla until you get that letter back!

and in the meantime, feel all warm and fuzzy bout the stupid bloke that bought a repaired 'written off' car worth £700 before it was crashed who has wracked up £900 worth of standing fines, 3points for the redlight offence plus any fines and points for no insurance, and top cap it off, the car will be a nice cube in a day or two if he doesnt pay.
